What Does the Data Show?

Over one third of the U.S. population is experiencing above average temperatures, and the rate of change is increasing. Scientists point to the burning of fossil fuels-greenhouse gas emissions-as the reason for increasing temperatures. Temperatures across the country have been recorded by the federal government since 1895. This data clearly shows increases in temperature patterns across the U.S. and the globe. Weather patterns are also shifting as a result of temperature changes.
